In Hebrew, Ariel means "lion of God."
She is fierce, strong, and independent.
She's determined and capable, with just a hint of mischief in the mix.
A fiery, blue-eyed young woman with a plan.
What's in a name? Quite a bit, apparently.

This image from a few years back was never published anywhere. It's one of my favorite photos from that particular shoot, so I thought I'd finally share it.
I was very flattered to be chosen for the Swendsboe's first ever official family portraits. This family is charming. This family is fun. This family was an absolute pleasure to photograph. Both kids are grown (one is married, the other a nurse), but these amiable people still exude warmth- both for each other and for any who have the privilage of calling them friends. A great bunch, these people.
*the Swendsboes are wearing t-shirts from a local Huntsville brand, Tiny Vines.
Loads of color and feeling in this fairytale engagement. Shooting these two lovebirds' wedding late this summer. Wahoo!
A 20th anniversary shoot with two charming, loving, fun, and 100% authentic people. It doesn't get any better than that.
Boy, do these people know how to have a good time! They not only let me photograph their celebration of retirement and Phil's birthday, but they made me feel like a part of the clan.. AND they fed me delicious food (big winner there, folks). This was a blast to be a part of, even for an introvert like myself.
In his first week of life, this little guy is adjusting nicely. And he has an awesome big brother!
There's a wickedly intelligent young woman behind those beautiful baby browns.
Sweet Mom & Dad + Sweet little Man + Sweet Little Man-On-the-Way =
Sweet Family
I'm biased though, these people are our friends
My sister graduated this year. I had the privilege of shooting her senior portraits, which turned out quite unique. We shot the black and white images in my living room, then headed to a local park for some fun fall color, to match her golden hair and deep hazel eyes.
My sister is a beautiful person. Her heart is huge and her disposition sunny. She's going into nursing, which couldn't be more perfect with her personality.
Despite a very difficult year, right smack in the middle of what can be the hardest time of one's life, Hannah weathers this season with a lovely smile, and a sturdy hope for the future. Onward and upward!
Kasey is a girl who exudes quiet confidence. She knows what she likes, where she's going, and who she wants to become.
Some people are just born with it- that sparkle, that special "something" most of us spend our lives trying to cultivate. My dear Miriam, you are one of those people.
An independent soul with a desire to help the underprivileged- that's who Caleb is.

Riley is one of those people. She's classy, creative, extremely talented, diligent- a remarkably beautiful old soul, and a very gifted writer. Riley, can we please be best friends?
A colorful family, with a little guy who looks at the world through excited and eager eyes. It was great to photograph another photographer and her family! (Stephanie Kaloi, http://www.stephaniekaloiphotography.com)
My friendship with Megan dates back to middle school. She's an all-around lovely individual, who works hard and excels at anything she puts her mind to. One of Megan's major skills is horseback riding, particularly dressage (look it up, it's not easy). She shares a special bond with these gorgeous boys.
These photos are a few years old- Megan is married and almost through with college. She doesn't get to spend as much time riding as she used to. These photos, while dated, are still some of my favorites.
