What is meant by an iron will?
Maybe a thing forged anew each morning
Broken by sundown?
Pieces scattered waiting
Till light and warmth readies them for another breaking.

This past week was our spring break, and while we had plans to get out of town, sickness kept us home. Luckily the adults in our house were spared! We tackled several much needed projects, like finishing up a room remodel, planting out more of the garden, hanging mirrors/curtains, building a treehouse (they’re only young once), etc.
Exciting tasks, but ones that have zero to do with photography. It also means I didn’t shoot many photos, like I had originally intended. I’m alright with that. It was a different but just as important focus.
This week here is going to be a doozy. I’m shooting a bunch of school portraits, plus extra activities start up for our kiddos. Fingers crossed for some art time, but it might be a slow few days on the blog.
“..to slip again over my faculties the viewless fetters of an uniform and too still existence..”
-Charlotte Brontë
One of those gloriously messy weekday mornings where we managed to get out the door early, good attitudes still in tact. I also had the wherewithal to grab my camera, given the conditions seemed conducive to drama over the lake. It’s a beautiful thing when plans work, and we get a nice little break from perpetual adaptation.
Things taking time
to be what they will,
Ideas forming along
state change lines.
Does this death feel more illusionary
Since feeling and love and promise
spring forth from what’s left of it?
"Dear Wheeler: you provide the prose poems. I'll provide the war."
Recently watched a film I’ve needed to see for decades. Citizen Kane, which, for what it lacked in story, made up for in technical prowess and visual intrigue. Many an art student has gone bananas over this movie, and I do see why. It’s an inspiring piece of work, one that I felt compelled to make something from, hence this fun, quick full focus composite image.
My lifelong friend, Stephanie, modeling her wedding dress in the PNW, for no other reason than celebrating.
“Just because”- I’m always down for that.
Believe me, I shot all the waterfall pictures too. 😉

This series was posted on Glass and 52 Frames relatively recently. Both of these platforms I’ll gush about some other day, but hopefully you don’t mind seeing the images again, if that’s our connection. One of my goals is to focus more efforts in this space, which means overlap. BUT, my hope is to time it so the imagery is fresh.
Sometimes an image captures a feeling so much better than anything I could write. Today is one of those times. All the best this week, friends!
The birth of Eve: cosmic and grounded at the same time.
Light stretching gently into the beautiful dark.
Less jarring, more complex.
Roots, woven in strength and purpose outside of simple dominion.
A recognition of belonging within nature, a part, not apart.
It’s something we women have held in our hearts,
since the beginning.
Dedicated to my Aunt Barb, a force of nature, a generous and tenacious spirit.
Despite reactionary rage, fully-coated anger,
a full inflicted fit of self importance, willingness to reck and ruin,
destruction for the promise of successful conquest,
Softness plays the long game.
Long after the most bitter of battles,
sometimes Softness wins.
Hopes on humanity, nature, and our place in this world we continue to influence.
Morning came on. A symphony.
Nothing, then notions, the faintest hint of sound,
and before we realized it,
a song forte
played for all who were awake to hear and see.
A quick perspective shift,
weight and weightless in meer seconds.
The lightest ease of that transition is lovely, no?
We did, in fact, spring forward over the weekend, so a quartet of roads for your Monday.
The sharpness that comes with a soft sunrise.
Another day of decision, perspective, consequence.
Returning to some sense of blogging after a very long hiatus.
Go Boldly.
Go Together.
